Comfort or Style

A Short Cultural Clash for Two Women
10 Minute Play -- No Set, or Simple Exterior

Two American women try on the clothes of Indian immigrants, unlocking resentment, guilt and longing.

Comfort or Style was developed on my weblog, Venal Scene.

Plot Summary

Anna, a native Brooklynite, is shocked when her friend Hattie shows up at their kids’ playground dressed in a sari like the immigrant Indian women with whom they share the park.  As Anna tries to stop Hattie before she starts trouble, they discover the secret resentments and longings that the women across the playground inspire.
