HAMBONE

by Johann Phillipe Benkowicz

(An OLD MAN sits at a rickety wooden table, idly playing solitaire with a deck of worn cards.  An old radio sits on the floor.  Benny Goodman plays softly.

The OLD MAN places a final card on the table.  The card makes a crisp, audible snap! as it lands.  This startles the man.  He looks toward the audience.)

OLD MAN (with consternation:)

Hambone...

(He dies.  Blackout.)
